Labels play a key role in communicating the character and personality of the Cotswold Cider Company’s authentic ciders. To meet its need for small print runs, scalability and flexibility it is working with specialist artisan label printer Integrity Print.
Rory Souter founded the Cotswold Cider Company as a result of his passion for England’s diverse native apple varieties and the orchard environment in which they grow. His aim is to popularise authentic, natural cider using the very best bittersweet cider apples to deliver distinctive flavours, whilst combining some personality, character and a little humour in the styles he produces. Rory began the business as a hobby but now runs it full time, selling primarily through wholesalers.
The Cotswold Cider Company branding is aligned with the craft movement and is designed to allow the personalities of the different ciders to stand out. With names such as No Brainer, Side Burn and Sweet Cheeks, there is plenty of scope for quirky, fun labels! Rory’s designer comes up with an initial selection of designs for each product, and these then evolve through discussion until the final design is agreed.
Rory wanted a printer who could produce his labels very quickly, on a high quality matt stock and with small print runs of 2,000 to 4,000. He was introduced to Integrity Print through a local cider maker’s group.
We needed a printer who was very flexible and responsive and would make the whole process as easy as possible, and that’s exactly what Integrity Print has provided through their Ready, Willing and Label service. I have a single point of contact - my account manager - who I get on with really well, and he ensures that everything goes smoothly.
The turnaround times are very quick, and it’s been easy to scale up as the business has grown. We now do print runs of 10,000 to 20,000, but the quality of printing and the process haven’t changed at all. I simply contact my account manager and he organises everything for me. I sometimes push him really hard on delivery times and he and Integrity always deliver.
